Surely one of the best cruising grounds in the world, the Ionian offers up everything you could wish for from a sailing holiday. Spanning from Corfu in the north to Zakynthos 250km south, it takes in countless beautiful harbour towns and smaller islands along the way. Our journey's are predominately around the South Ionian islands as they give the most incredible mix of secluded bays, private swimming stops and both modern and traditional towns. All of this is with the added benefit of being found over reasonably short distances between destinations.

The area wows with magnificent vistas, as towering mountains fall away into endless turquoise bays where we anchor and swim. The towns themselves vary from A-list attractions on Cephalonia and Ithica to small, traditional Greek fishing villages – all, however, full of friendly and relaxed locals. Life in the slow lane works perfectly here, time is spent passionately debating over Greek coffees and enjoying the deliciously fresh, seasonal food.

Our transfer service will meet you at Prevesa Airport and bring you to the boat in Lefkas Marina - a 40-minute transfer. Enjoy a champagne reception on arrival, as we show you around your home for the next week.

Lefkas is as big as towns come in this part of Greece, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars to be found wandering the charming back streets and through the lovely town squares.

We will stay in Lefkas on the first night to give you time to settle and relax after your day of travelling. Before leaving the next morning the skipper will give all guests a full yacht safety brief and answer any questions that you may have.

day 1

Spartahori

meganisi

Meganisi instantly transports you back in time to traditional Greece. There are only two small towns on the island, but they provide all you could want.

We will moor in Spartahori after a day spent swimming in beautifully clean, clear water in one of the many bays that Meganisi is blessed with. The beauty of a sailing yacht is that it gives you unparalleled freedom to go where you want - if its your own private bay you're after, we can find that; if it's a lively beach beach bar, then we can find that too.

Spartahori itself is set high up on the hill sitting directly above the marina, but the walk is worth every step. The views give a great vantage point across the Ionian from which we can get a feel for what the days ahead will bring.

ithica

Kioni is stunning.
‍
A small town on the island of Ithaca with real style and taste, the entrance to the bay is found by three windmills, now in ruin, that stand on the southern headland.
Traditional Ionian architecture that has been kept pristine gives the place real charm. There are jewellery shops, beautiful open air bars and some of the finest dining you will find, all within a quiet stroll.
‍
We will likely moor a little out of town, tie to the rocks and create our very own swimming pool at the back of the boat - this gives us some quiet and privacy away from the other boats in what can be a busy town. Your crew will then run you into town in the tender and will be on hand to pick you up whenever you have finished dinner.

This area of Northern Cephalonia is prized for its coastlines, with so many swimming spots ideal to swim and relax, read a good book and enjoy a cool glass of wine whilst the cook prepares lunch. Once done we'll up-anchor and if the wind allows, sail our way into Fiscardo.

A playground of the rich and famous, Fiscardo is somewhere that must be experienced. There is a buzz in the air here and the exceptional restaurants that line the waterfront are the perfect way to spend an evening watching the world go by.

A lesser known town on Cephalonia's west coast, light seems to shine differently in Assos. Soft sunlight illuminates the water and bounces off the pastel hued buildings giving a rustic feel to the your surroundings.
‍
There are so many vantage points to enjoy the views from - by climbing up to Fort Assos you can look west to get an unobstructed view of the sun falling below the horizon in dramatic fashion, and back to the east for an arial view of our yacht anchored off the town quay.
‍
The sail to Assos also offers some breathtaking beauty with turquoise water and deserted beaches commonplace. It's heaven.

day 5

paleros

Paleros is flanked by a dramatic mountain range that towers over this traditional fishing village. Not too much has been modernised here over the years and life is still very much taken at a leisurely pace.
‍
There are however flashes of outstanding food and stunning bars hidden away; your crew will point out the best open air bar to watch the sunset from, the tastiest cocktail’s in town and can also book you a table at a family run taverna that does away with menus and serves up plate after plate of local delicacies in a magical setting.

We will anchor the yacht just off the beach and your crew will take you to shore in the tender. The water is beautifully clear here, and the town is at the top of a bay that protects it from prevailing winds, giving us a nice calm night’s sleep

day 6

transport.

Prevesa Airport is the closest to our meeting point in Lefkas. A small airport, Prevesa is served by a number of airlines, but not all. Check flight availability from your departure point to Prevesa before booking.

Alternatively you can fly to Corfu and get an air transfer or a ferry then taxi down to Lefkas. If this is more convenient for you then contact us before booking and we can help by explaining these arrangements further.

If you are already in Greece at the start of our journey then driving to Lefkas in also simple. Lefkada island is joined to the mainland by bridge and there are many car rental companies on the island with whom you can make arrangements.

visas.

European nationals do not need a visa to enter Greece, but passports/ID card checks are still in place at borders. While traveling within the EU, you may only need your Identity card. However, a passport is necessary for a number of other things, such as currency exchanges etc.

Anyone visiting Greece should ensure that their passport is valid for 6 months past the intended date of departure and that it is stamped at the border.

Everyone's first language here is Greek, but English is widely spoken with varying degrees of competence!

Being understood in a restaurant or supermarket never causes too much trouble, so don't be too worried if your Greek isn't up to scratch.

currency.

The Euro is the only accepted currency in the Ionian.

ATM’s are not easily available in all of the places that we will visit, so having some cash reserves will be useful. Credit and debit card payments are accepted in the vast majority of restaurants, supermarkets and shops, making pre-paid currency cards with fixed favourable exchange rates a good way of making payments.

Your bank’s standard withdrawal fees for accessing money abroad should apply if using normal credit/debit cards. Be sure to inform them that you are going to be using your card abroad.

Each week there is room for 6 guests in 3 double-occupancy cabins.

Bookings are made by the cabin, with a 50% deposit payable upon booking and the remainder to be paid no later than 60 days before your date of arrival. Once you request to book we will email you a PayPal invoice. If you want to split the payment between your party then add their names and email address's in the 'Notes' field.

* If your party is larger than the number of cabins available in your chosen week, then still 'Request To Book' and detail your required number of cabins in the 'Notes' field. In many instances we will be able to arrange another yacht for you. No payment will be requested nor card details required until you authorise it.

Upon payment we will email you/your party a passenger information form, where we will ask for specific requirements that you may have and the details of your travel plans to Italy.
